Padel Evolution began with a holiday in Portugal in the summer of 2025. The six of us, all in our early twenties and all born and raised in Sudbury, tried padel for the very first time, and we were instantly hooked. The game was fast, social, competitive, and unbelievably fun. By the end of the trip, we were playing every day and already discussing how we couldn’t wait to continue playing once we returned home to England.
However, when we got back, reality set in. The nearest padel courts were at least a 45-minute drive away, and every single one was consistently fully booked. We couldn’t believe that a sport growing this quickly, one of the fastest-expanding sports in Europe, had no presence in our hometown. We realized there was a vibrant padel community forming elsewhere, but not in Sudbury.
So, we had a crazy idea: If Sudbury didn’t have padel, why couldn’t we be the ones to bring it here?
What began as a holiday obsession transformed into a mission. We started researching courts, locations, construction, and everything needed to establish a proper padel facility for our community. The more we learned, the more determined we became to create something special for Sudbury, a place where anyone could discover the sport that had captured our hearts so quickly.
Padel Evolution is the result of that spark. A group of young adults, a summer holiday, a sport we fell in love with, and a shared belief that Sudbury deserves to be part of padel’s incredible rise. And this is just the beginning.
